Korea Moon Jar, White Porcelain Vase
A "Moon Jar" of medium size (height 16,5cm) in the purest Korean tradition, a very beautiful white porcelain of an apparent simplicity but which lets all the complexity of its realization show through with its perfectly balanced spherical shape made of 2 half-spheres (top and bottom) associated, assembled by hand on the potter's wheel. This jar was made from pure white clay and an ash glaze, and fired twice, the last time at 1250°C in a wood-fired kiln. This piece is the work of Hyun Taeju of the 100-mok studio, a Korean ceramist who regularly exhibits in South Korean galleries, reinterpreting traditions to anchor them in our contemporary lives.
The Moon Jar is a white porcelain art piece whose organic, round and almost unreal balance is specific to Korea, a strong cultural heritage that continues to inspire today's artisans.
Please note that this is a unique piece.
