Korean Buncheong ceramic Moon Jar vase

Sale price€583,00

A superb medium sized "Moon Jar" (height 15,9cm, diameter 15,5cm) in the purest Korean tradition of Buncheong, a very beautiful ceramic of an apparent simplicity but which lets all the complexity of its realization show through with its perfectly balanced spherical shape made of 2 half-spheres (top and bottom) associated, assembled by hand on the potter's wheel. This jar was made from a dark porcelain clay and a white slip (slip is a coloured coating applied to the ceramic, before firing, to cover the natural colour). Without any other decoration, this technique allows to show all the beauty of the ceramic, between strength and lightness. This piece is the work of Yoon Seho, a Korean ceramist who regularly exhibits in South Korean galleries and who reinterprets traditions to anchor them in our contemporary lives.

The Moon Jar is a white porcelain art piece whose organic, round and almost unreal balance is specific to Korea, a strong cultural heritage that continues to inspire today's artisans.

Please note this piece is one of a kind.
