White porcelain vase with blue magnolias by Tetsuya Ueda
This blue porcelain vase is the work of Japanese ceramicist Tetsuya Ueda. Born in 1974 in Kyoto, Ueda-san was trained in traditional ceramics in the Seto region, one of the six ancient kilns of Japan. He is particularly recognized for his mastery of the sometsuke technique, which consists of applying blue patterns under a transparent glaze.
This tall vase features an elegant shape with delicately carved facets, creating a subtle play of light and shadow. The hand-drawn magnolia motif in cobalt blue adds a touch of refinement and is a testament to Ueda-san's artistic skill.
The vase is signed at the base by the artist and is accompanied by its original wooden box (tomobako), on which the artist's name and official seal are affixed. A protective cloth (tomonuno) bearing the artist's seal, as well as an information document (shiori) detailing the ceramicist's profile, are also included, guaranteeing the authenticity and provenance of the piece.

Hand-crafted, these vases, made using the most precious Japanese ceramic techniques, bear the imprint of a master craftsman who is the heir to a thousand-year-old tradition. This living art embodies the essence of Japan, where history and nature unite in beauty.
Although deeply rooted in tradition, these exceptional Japanese ceramic vases, signed by very big names, have a resolutely contemporary spirit while preserving their authenticity, incredibly decorative and wonderfully timeless sculptural pieces.
