Hinoki wood magewappa tray
Small tray, container for rice, box without lid, decoration, this object is the quintessence of the Mingei spirit and the simple and precious beauty of Japanese craftsmanship. It is made of soft and light hinoki (Japanese cedar) wood, which retains its characteristic delicious scent, according to the tradition of magewappa, or "bent wood", an ancient and tedious process done entirely by hand. Each piece requires up to 3 weeks of work: strips are extracted from the hinoki wood, which are then boiled, folded and tied together with cherry bark.
