Japanese two-coloured shaker boxes in cherry wood

Sale price€245,00
Size:

Individually or in trio for a beautiful effect, these boxes are an ode to woodworking and traditions that cross the oceans. Inspired by American shaker boxes, they were created by the talented Kyoto-based designer Shigeo Mashiro and are handcrafted using traditional Japanese techniques, with very thin and light cherry wood strips bent with dexterity. For a strikingly contrasting effect, the wood is worked either naturally oiled or stained black, each size being different. The finesse and complexity of their construction, with their precious details such as the fixing "legs", give them an incredible elegance. Soft to the touch, light and perfectly finished, these Japanese craft boxes are the quintessence of the Mingei spirit.
